The international not-for-profit organization that discusses and defines standards in the field of healthcare connectivity, Continua Health Alliance, hoisted its flag in Brazil during HOSPITALAR with the seminar "Adopting Standards for Personal Connected Devices".

The CEO of Continua Health Alliance and senior director of Qualcom Life, Clint McClellan, spoke of the institution's importance in effectively working for the globalization of communication, which in his opinion optimizes cost reductions, thereby promoting better qualified healthcare.

Clint described the evolution of Continua Health Alliance, which has over 200 associate companies worldwide. Continua's efforts are dedicated to establishing a healthcare solutions system based on the knowledge that the expansion of these solutions fosters independence while also habilitating individuals and affording the opportunity for health and well-being.

During the seminar Clint also talked about the advantages of connectivity for personal healthcare systems and devices and their taxes for providing service in Brazil, in addition to discussing the benefits of becoming an associate of the organization.

Following Clint's opening words, the Global Director of Healthcare Policy at Intel, Alice Borrelli, explained the company's work developed specifically within the healthcare sector for about 20 years. "Intel always wants to do things differently, and in line with this train of thought we prioritize standardization of products, where the focus is currently on mobile technology, which is the technology of connectivity."
Other subjects covered in the seminar were: government initiatives, academia and associations for patient engagement; discussion of Continua Health Alliance technology solutions and continuous care of interoperable personal devices.
