Ministry of Health invests US$ 3.9 million in research
and qualification of education in Medicine
About a thousand scholarships will be distributed to students, college teachers and professionals of the Unique System of Health (SUS) for researches in healthcare and medical doctors training. The Program of Education for Work in Healthcare (PET-Saúde), focused until this moment on the Strategy Family Healthcare, will be expanded to studies of Health Surveillance.
As for the Support to the Medical Internship in Federal Universities (Pró-Internato), it will come into effect to qualify Medicine students. The funds available for both projects are of US$ 3.9 million, invested by the Ministry of Health.
The PET-Saúde – Health Surveillance will give scholarships to students who develop works on the profile of healthcare in Brazil, according to the principles and needs of the SUS. Researches must analyze occurrence of diseases, causes of death and problems derived from violence, including traffic accidents. These students will be monitored by teachers and by healthcare professionals. There are approximately 700 scholarships per month with an annual investment estimated in US$ 2.3 million.
