Business Roundtable generates
US$ 12.8 million in exportations
The quality of the Brazilian medical and hospital products has once again surprised the foreign buyers. 18 representatives from foreign countries participated in the International Business Roundtable and generated US$ 12.8 million in business deals with 52 Brazilian companies. The exportations were prospected in 565 meetings held during Hospitalar.
The numbers outdid the expectations for the meetings. According to the executive
director of the Brazilian Association for the Medical-Dental Industry, Hely Maestrello,
the initial expectation was to register US$ 9 million. “We made the right
buyers selection. For this roundtable, we managed to bring international companies
truly interested in the products made in Brazil”, he explains.
Besides
the prospects, Maestrello believes that the 8th edition of the roundtable, promoted
in partnership with Apex-Brasil, allowed national brands to become stronger in
the international market. “Our challenge is to strengthen the country’s
image and to put it in evidence as a cutting edge exporter. Only doing this we
will reach our first goal: to create demand for the Brazilian products with hospitals,
professionals and health care units worldwide”, he said.
From the invited countries, the following ones were present in the roundtable:
Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, India, Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Russia,
Venezuela and Canada. One of the representatives of the North American country
was the company CardioMed Supplies, which has acted in the hospital industry for
28 years and has exported for 7 years. “The good news about the economic
consolidation and the current infrastructure to encourage exports have made us
pay attention to the Brazilian market and include the country’s industry
companies in the potential partners list ”, explained the President and
CEO of CardioMed, Christian Dubé.
The dollar increase, result of the financial crisis, encouraged Saudi Arabia
to come, a country that had, until now, the United States as their main supplier.
10 years ago, the company Nomas Medical & Laboratory Equipment found out the
Brazilian industry. The crisis motivated the Marketing & Sales Manager, Mohammed
Daqqa, to intensify business deals with Brazil. “The Brazilian products
do not represent a significant part of the imported goods that are found in the
Arab territory, but the country has high-credibility companies and high-quality
products”, he justified. |
